Hurricane relief
Mobilizing BEYOND alumni to serve, lead, and engage by providing relief and restoration in disaster areas
Mission
BEYOND alumni have developed the capacity to lead, are highly adaptable, resilient, and have the skills needed to thrive in backcountry environments. In the coming months we will be mobilizing small, specialized teams to serve those most impacted by hurricane Helene. Our ability to be self sufficient, reach cut off areas, and mobilize needed resources meets a critical need in these devastated areas.
Our mission is to partner with local churches and relief agencies in the Buncombe County area of North Carolina to identify families devastated by the storm in hard to reach areas. Teams will will be uniquely trained and resourced to serve in a variety of capacities including…
– Supply distribution (food, diapers, blankets, etc.)
– Tarping roofs
– Clearing trees and debris
– Mudding out houses
– General manual labor
– Prayer and encouragement
Our goal is to serve families devastated by the storms through multiple trips over the next 3-6 months meeting both immediate needs and building relationships needed to walk alongside people who have lost so much as they work to restore their lives to some sense of normal.
All funding raised for this mission will be used to mobilize teams and provide for the needs of the families we serve. As winter approaches families will need help with reconstruction, cold weather gear, water filtration, and temporary shelter. Your support will help our teams meet these needs and others in real-time.
This mission will not only utilize these young adults unique abilities to serve in difficult environments, but also serve as the context for life changing growth and transformation as they experience Jesus at work in the midst of crisis and have the opportunity to practice leadership and ministry alongside their peers and mentors.
